After MS Dhoni and Milkha Singh, now another sports biopic on this football legend

As love stories are now becoming a thing of past, the audience is demanding real life stories from the Bollywood industry. The directors and producers took the demand of the audience seriously and embarked on the journey to make some lively biopics of famous personalities but the sports biopics got all the spotlight on them. From “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” to “MS Dhoni, An untold story”, sports biopics have ruled the silver screen and the upcoming movie on badminton star Saina Nehwal have kept the fans gushing.

Crazy football fans in the nations were demanding a movie on any Indian football great and now Bollywood producer Anand Kumar is currently working on a football based biopic.

Bhaichung Bhutia’s life story to be depicted in a biopic

It is learnt that Kumar is working to make a biopic on former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia. Kumar has gestate the biopic and is currently in the process of finalising a director and lead actor for the film.

Bhutia looked thrilled with the announcement and felt that Anand is the right man to bring his journey on the silver screen.

“I am honoured that people feel that my journey is worth capturing for the big screen. I am certain that Anand will do justice to my story.

“I hail from a small town in Sikkim, but playing football for India wasn’t my only dream. I always wanted to own a professional football club and I realised that dream with United Sikkim (his football club),” Bhutia said.

Bhutia who started and ended his professional career playing for the prestigious East Bengal FC was the torch bearer of Indian world for many years. The star striker has 104 International caps in which he scored on 40 occasions.

Bhutia, 41, retired from national team in 2011 after which he continued his stint in the I-League till 2015. He joined Trinamool Congress in 2014 but his failure in the Mamata Banerjee led party forced him to make his own party on May 31, 2018 named “Hamro Sikkim Party”.
