Southern Stars register an emphatic victory over India in opening encounter of the womens T20 Tri-series 2018

Australian women’s cricket team continued their good run at the Indian tour by registering a six wickets win in the opening encounter of the womens T20 Tri-series 2018, played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

Earlier Australia won the toss and choose to bowl first. Smriti Mandhana(67 of 41 balls) and Mithali Raj(18 run of 27 balls) provided the ideal start for India. Mithali was the first batsman to fall at 71 and she was soon followed by Mandhana, as India struggled to get the momentum going after then. The women’s from Australia took only 18.1 overs to cruise past the target. They showed their domination in batting as opener Beth Mooney contributed 45 off 32 balls. Skipper Meg Lanning with an unbeaten 35 off 25 balls and Elyse Villani (39 of 33 balls) also contributed in their team’s winning cause.

The biggest positive for India was Jhulan Goswami, who was returning from an injury and picked 3 crucial wickets that uneased the Australians for some time.
