Can India reach the number one spot in ODI rankings after Australia ODI series

After an emphatic victory in the test series, Indian team in their coloured outfits will be eager to create an impact in the ODI series after the T20 series was levelled owing to a washed out 2nd T20. The men in blue will face Australia in the three match ODI series which starts on January 12.

After the conclusion of the series, India will next travel to the Britain of South termed New Zealand for five match ODI series and three match T20 series.

India will play as many as eight ODI games in these two months and England who are at number one spot in ODI rankings will have no danger of losing their spot to India, who are placed behind them at number 2.

Eoin Morgan’s men have 126 points in their kitty while India have 121 points. If Virat Kohli and company manages to win all their eight ODIs, then they may close out this gap and reach to 125 points which is only one point behind England.

India’s performance so far in the past year

The men in blue have been on the rise in 2018, winning the ODI series in South Africa followed by victories in Asia Cup and West Indies series. They will be eyeing to start the crucial year with a win in the ODI series over Australia to test their preparations for upcoming cricket world cup.
