1- Kepler Wessels- Australia and South Africa

Australia and South Africa are the two heavyweight of the game and representing these two countries in the world cup is a dream come true for any cricket. Keppler Wessels was one who had privilege of representing both these nations at the greatest stage of them all.

On the back of some impressive performance for Queensland in domestic cricket, Wessels was drafted in the Australian team as he went onto become the first South Africa born cricketer to represent Australia and the 13th Australian player to score a century on debut.

Following his consistent run, the 61-year-old was drafted in Australia’s world cup squad of 1983. He went onto score 76 against Zimbabwe but failure against West Indies and India left him to warm the bench in rest of the games. Wessels announced his retirement from the Australian side in 1986 and hoped to play for his home country- South Africa.

The dream finally came true when the South African team’s ban was lifted by ICC after the removal of apartheid from the country. He later went onto captain an inexperienced South African side in 1992 world cup which lost to England in the semi-final.
