After bagging 6 medals at the 4th day, Indian athletes will look to continue the winning momentum on the 5th day of the competition. Several athletics events are lined up for the day, followed by shooting, which will be the biggest medal hope for India. This will be the last day in weightlifting as three Indian lifters will eye a medal, in their category. Two Indian boxers will also kickstart their campaign. India at day 5 of gold coast cwg 2018

Saina seals it for India!

17:11 pm: India thump favorites Malaysia 3-1 to claim the mixed team events gold in Gold Coast. Wins for Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth, Ashwini Ponappa/Satwiksairaj.


16:50 pm: India’s Loganathan Suriya clocks a time of 32:23.56, finished 13th in women’s 10000 meters.

16:31 pm: Weightlifting: India’s Gurdeep Singh finished 4th in men’s 105 kg weightlifting, he was the leader after snatch events, but two failed attempts in clean and jerk, meant he slipped three placed down to fourth.


16:11 pm: Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty lose their men’s doubles rubber in straight games. India still leads 2-1, as Saina is in action against Soniia Cheah.


 

Gold for India!

15:57 pm: India win gold in men’s table tennis event by outclassing Nigeria 3-0. This is the first time in CWG history that both the Indian men’s and women’s team have won gold. What a day for Indian table tennis yet again!


15:47 pm: Weightlifting 105 kg: India’s Gurdeep Singh is at gold medal position after the snatch event, he lifts a total of 175 kg as clean and jerk event gets underway.


15:40 pm: Indian mixed badminton team leads 2-0 against Malaysia in gold medal match, one win away from victory as Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy battle it out in men’s double. Good wins from Srikanth against Lee Chong Wei in straight games and mixed double pair of Satwik and Ashwini.

Indian men’s table tennis team leads 2-0 against Nigeria in gold medal match, one win away from victory as Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran battle it out in men’s double. Good wins for Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Achanta Sharath Kamal in men singles.

10:15 am: In Men’s Skeet Qualifying, Smit Singh has progressed to the final. His score of 119+1 has ensured he finishes inside the top-six. Sheeraz Sheikh’s 117 not good enough in the end

Mehuli claims silver, Apurvi claims bronze in women's 10m air rifle at Gold Coast CWG09:30 am: Mehuli Ghosh gets silver in a dramatic final that rarely went to the gold medal shoot off, Martina Lindsay Veloso of Singapore gets the gold medal. Defending champion Apurvi Chandela wins bronze.

09:12 am: Women’s 10m air rifle event gets underway. India’s Apurvi chandela currenly at silver medal position after 14 shots.


08:12 am: Athletics update: India’s Poovamma Raju finishes with a time of 52.72 seconds and finish 4th in her heat of women’s 400m, fails to qualify for the finals.

Hima Das qualifies for women’s 400m semi-final after finishing 3rd in her heat with a time of 52.11 seconds.


Gold and bronze for India!

08:00 am: Jitu Rai wins the gold for India with a games record, he shoots a total of 135.1, India’s Om Prakash norrowly missed on a silver and has to settle for bronze, after some disappointing shots at the end, he scores a total of 233.5

07:44 am: After 14 shots, Jitu Rai tops the chart with 139.6. Om Prakash at 137.8 and at second position.

07:17 am: India’s Pardeep Singh wins silver in men’s 105 kg weightlifting, he lifts a total of 352 kg.


07:12 am: Table Tennis: Sathiyan Gnanasekaran looses his singles to Ning Gao of Singapore as the tie levels at 2-2. Sharath Kamal plays Xue Jie Pang, in the last tie, whoever wins this go through the gold medal match.


07:05 am: Women’s 10m air rifle events gets underway, defending champion Apurvi Chandela and Mehuli Ghosh are in action.


05:45 am: Om Mitharval and Jitu Rai both qualify for the Men’s 10m Air Pistol Final. Mitharval, with 584, has matched the CWG qualifying record. Jitu Rai posts 570 to finish fourth.


8th April: 22:32 pm: India’s Jitu Rai and Om Prakash Mitharval will be the first Indian in action on day 5. They feature in the qualification round of men’s 10 m air pistol event. Stay tuned for all the updates.
