India coach Ravi Shastri hints at playing this youngster in the third test

India vs England: Ravi Shastri hints at playing Rishabh Pant in the third test

Indian team has been way below average in the ongoing England test series being 2-0 down and fighting to keep the series alive. Indian batters have been a big disappointment for Ravi Shastri’s side and he has hinted that there can be a big change in the playing XI for the third test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

About Rishabh Pant’s chances

Dinesh Karthik let off a chance to cement his place in the test squad after Wriddhiman Saha was sidelined following a career threatening shoulder injury which he caught up during the IPL 11. Karthik failed to prove his worth and scored just 21 runs in four innings that brings the debate to the inclusion of Delhi youngster Rishabh Pant.

Recent performances of Pant

The Roorkee born Delhi cricketer has been way too impressive for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL 11. Following his tremendous run, selectors gave him a break in the India A squad that toured England. He scored three half centuries in the tournament with healthy strike rate that draw the attention of the selectors and they drafted him in the Indian test squad.

The 20-year-old wicket-keeper batsman also scored a triple hundred in Ranji trophy 2016 season playing for Delhi against Maharashtra.

He is expected to replace Dinesh Karthik and bring the attacking insistence in play in Nottingham test.
