India will be eyeing history when they take the ground in Sydney in the fourth test against Australia. The visitors came into the test series with the hope of becoming the first touring Indian team to win a test series in Australia.
Virat Kohli and company showed up a tremendous fight and trumped Australia in the first test to move one step forward in pursuit to create history. Australia are known for scripting fight backs and they gave it back by winning the second test and leveling the domain test series 1-1.
With the winning momentum on their side, Tim Paine and company had all the plans to win the third test but some impressive batting form by Indian team made a big impact in the game. India went onto win the test by 137 runs and took a 2-1 lead.
Before the start of the fourth test at Sydney cricket ground, Rohit Sharma parted ways from the team as he flew back home to welcome a new guest in his family who is his new born daughter. Ravichandran Ashwin who impressed in the first test was again under scanner due to fitness issues and skipper Virat Kohli clarified that he won’t be available for selection despite getting included in 13 man squad.
Ishant Sharma who has been as asset for India in the series was also excluded from the squad following injury concerns which brought Vidarbha pacer Umesh Yadav into the squad.
