India faced a humiliating defeat in the second test against England by an innings and 159 runs after yet another batting failure that saw Ashwin topping the score charts with 33 runs. India got bundled out on 107 runs in the first innings thanks to a fifer from James Anderson and weather playing its part too.

England looked to take a huge 1st innings lead but Indian bowlers showed some resistance and send four batsman packing on 90 runs at lunch on day 3. They then lost Jos Butler after lunch but a match turning 189 run stand between Chris Woakes and Jonny Bairstow, well complimented by Sam Curran took the England total to 395/7. The Three Lions took 289 runs lead and India were left to chase down an enormous numbers to bring down the chances of an innings defeat.

The Indian batters battled for the survival but the conditions again got on the better side for the English bowlers and they exploited the conditions to trouble the Indian batters yet again. They could just manage 130 runs and brought back the horror memories of 2011 and 2014 test series. Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad took four wickets each and two wickets went to the man of the match Chris Woakes. England took just 54.1 overs to topple the strong looking Indian batting line-up to take a 2-0 lead in the five match test series.

Here is how twitterverse reacted to the India’s loss in the second test at Lords
