Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni turned 38 on Sunday and celebrated his special day with daughter Ziva, wife Sakshi and several other team members including Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Kedar Jadhav. The veteran of over 300 ODI’s started his career with a zero in his debut game against Bangladesh but it didn’t take much time to turn into a hero after playing a match changing innings of 148 runs against Pakistan in 2005. He remains to be world’s best finisher in the limited overs format.

Dhoni’s birthday celebration became grand as India registered a clinical 7 wickets victory over Sri Lanka in their last league stage clash to brim in confidence, going into the knockout round.

MS Dhoni will play a key role in India’s triumph at the ongoing world cup. The men in blue will face a depleted New Zealand in the first semi-final on 9th July at Manchester. India won seven out of nine games, which includes a rain wash out game against New Zealand to finish on top of the table.

Defending champs Australia faced a setback after they were pipped by a low lying South Africa to finish on the second spot in the points table with 15 points in 9 games.

Dhoni has scored 223 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 93 plus in the ongoing World Cup. There were speculations that the veteran cricketer might just hang his boots after the conclusion of the world cup but he has cleared the air that he is no mood to retire from the game anytime soon.
