Here are some of the unknown facts about Divya Singh (Indian Basketball Player)

Basketball has always been an under rated sports in India, but India has produced some of the finest players in the sports. Former Indian basketball team captain Divya Singh is one of the examples of those few. As this girl from Varanasi celebrates her 35th birthday today, we bring you some of her interesting facts.

1:) Singh Sisters: She is from the famous “Basketball family of India ” where four out of five sisters have represented India pastly or are playing currently. Her sisters Prashanti, Akansha and Pratima have represented Indian National Women’s Basketball Team.

2:) Cricket connection: One of her sister Pratima Singh is married to Indian cricketer Ishant Sharma, they tied the knot on 10th December, 2016.

3:) Good at academics :  Studies become secondary for any player but Divya was a very good student despite being a very good basketball player. She has done sports management at the University of Delaware, Neward , Delaware (UD) in the year 2008 to 2010. And worked as an assistant Women’s basketball coach for UD. She did her schooling from RMKBI, Varanasi. And also has a backelor of physical education degree from Banaras Hindu University.

4:) Playing career : Divya Singh played as a Guard/Forward in the team and measures 6 ft. tall. Her international career spanned from 2002-2007.

5:) Domestic career : Despite being from Uttar Pradesh she has represented Delhi at the national level and now gives coaching to Delhi University’s basketball team and Senior team of Delhi.
