IPL 2020: Gautam Gambhir likely to buy the stake of Delhi Capitals

IPL 2020: Gautam Gambhir likely to buy the stake of Delhi Capitals

Gautam Gambhir, who left the captaincy after the successive defeat of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2018, is now thinking of owning the same team. According to media reports, Gautam Gambhir, the former opening batsman of Team India, may soon become a collaborator of the Delhi Capitals (DC) team. Currently, JSW Sports and GMR Group hold 50-50 per cent stake in Delhi Capitals.

According to ‘Times of India’ Gambhir has been talking about this for about two months and can buy a 10 per cent stake in Delhi Capitals, which is worth around Rs 100 crore. JSW Sports had acquired a 50 per cent stake in the franchise last year for Rs 550 crore and to change the fortunes, they changed the name from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals. The move paid dividends as the team under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, reached knockout stage after a gap of 8 years.

Sources have informed that the deal has been confirmed in this regard and they are waiting for approval from IPL Governing Council. However, nothing has been said about this by Gautam Gambhir. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals has made it clear that talks are going on in this regard and the information will be made public after all the formalities are completed.
