Jasprit Bumrah could well make a comeback in Australia series

Bowlers are the key to any team when they oversees and Indian captain Virat Kohli and team management have some good news in stores for them as key pacer Jasprit Bumrah is set to make his comeback in the Australia series next year in January.

A report quoted by India Today was that Bumrah went through an assessment post the diwali break and the recovery is well on track for the Gujarat pacer.

“He underwent assessment and his recovery is on track. Can expect him to be back in Indian colours in January and the Australia series could be the one,” India Today quoted a report as saying.

The men in blue will host Sri Lanka and Australia in the same month of January before heading to New Zealand for the series down under. India will play two-Test, three-ODIs and five T20I in New Zealand and getting the services of Bumrah will be an added advantage for India’s chances, keeping in mind the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia. His presence in the test side will boost India’s chances to further consolidate their position in the World Test Championship table, where the Indian team currently stands at number one position.

“When you are playing in New Zealand, the bowling becomes all the more important. As you have seen in the past as well, it is more about taking 20 wickets there than scoring big hundreds. So, the team management was very clear that they are happy to wait and have him back at his best in time for the New Zealand tour,” the source added.

India faced a big setback after Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the three match test series against South Africa after suffering from a stress fracture on lower back. The 25-year-old pacer is currently undergoing rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
