India has a great depth in their batting line-up and this has started a new competition for a healthy reason within the team. There has been a huge debate on being the best between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The latter batsman is no doubt a force to reckon in the ODI and test cricket but Rohit Sharma has given tough competition when it comes to T20 cricket.

Rohit recently became the highest run getter in T20 format after he surpassed New Zealand’s Martin Guptill. Virat Kohli is at the number four spot which ekes out Rohit ahead in the race.

Virat has not won a single IPL trophy for a heavyweight team like Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL while Rohit Sharma has won three IPL trophies with Mumbai Indians.

To get an expert opinion on the much anticipated debate, India’s premier pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has stepped up and picked the best captain between the two.

Bumrah picks between Virat and Rohit

The Gujarat pacer praised Rohit Sharma and termed him as a “reassuring” captain. Its worth mentioning that Bumrah was picked from a Ahmedabad based T20 league in 2013 where former India coach John Wright was impressed with his skills. The fast bowler later went onto play for Mumbai Indians where his career bloomed under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.

“He’s seen me before I was an India player and he’s seeing me now. He’s seen phases that I’ve been through,” he told the Times of India. “The thing with Rohit is, he’s never been different with me. He used to back me with a lot of space then and he does it now. He’ll come, ask me what I see or believe in, set the field accordingly and then keeps backing me up all the time. Some days it works, some days it doesn’t but it’s always so reassuring.”

Bumrah has claimed 12 wickets at an average of 20.16 while conceding runs at 4.04 an over when he was lead by Rohit Sharma in seven ODIs. In five T20Is under Rohit, Bumrah has four wickets at 6.88 per over.

We will leave you to decide about Bumrah’s choice about better captain between Rohit and Virat. We would insist you to go for Rohit Sharma 🙂
