Kolkata turns pink ahead of India vs Bangladesh day/night test

India registered a convincing victory over Bangladesh in the first test at Indore to be 1-0 up in the two match series and bag all 60 points to consolidate their position in world test championship points table. The action will now shift to Eden Gardens in Kolkata where the two teams will play their first ever day night test with SG pink ball. Due will be a decisive factor in the game and the team who can bat sensibly will emerge victorious as the pink cherry generates more swing from the pitch, making life difficult for the batters.

Meanwhile, one can get the illusion of being in the Pink City Jaipur as soon as one reach around the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Not only Eden but the entire metropolitan city has been painted pink before the day-night match between India and Bangladesh to be played from Friday. As soon as the sun sets, within and outside Eden, pink is seen everywhere. There is a lot of enthusiasm among cricket fans here as the country gears up to host first ever day and night match played with a pink ball. Most of the match tickets are already sold out. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is confident of staying houseful for five days.

Preparations for this match are almost complete and VVIP’s like Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be present on the first day of the match. Apart from these, veteran cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman will also be present. CAB Secretary Abhishek Dalmiya confirmed that the army paratroopers would land directly on the field and hand over one pink ball to the captains of the two countries. This has been discussed with the officers of the Eastern Command of the Army.

A giant pink balloon was released at the Eden Gardens and it will be seen floating in the sky till the end of the match.
