MS Dhoni becomes the fourth Indian to reach the milestone of 10,000 runs in ODIs

Despite the loosing effort, MS Dhoni becomes the fourth Indian to reach the milestone of 10,000 runs in ODIs during the second match of the ongoing series against England.

The man from Ranchi joins the elite list which feature India’s batting great like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid.

Dhoni came to bat when India was struggling at 140-4 and needed just 33 runs to go past 10,00 runs in ODIs. However, India kept loosing wickets that didn’t enable him to go full throttle at the bowling but he did manage to go past the 33 run mark after taking a single in the 43rd over of the game at the “Home of cricket”.

Dhoni is currently placed 12th in the list of all-time highest run-getters in ODIs.

Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara is the only wicketkeeper-batsman to feature in the 10,000 run getter list with 14,234 runs. He is the second highest run-getter in the ODIs, behind the master “Sachin Tendulkar”.

Earlier in the day, Dhoni also became the fourth wicket-keeper to complete 300 ODI catches after Adam Gilchrist (417), Mark Boucher (403) and Kumar Sangakkara (402)
