East Bengal may play an exhibition match with English Premier League’s iconic team Manchester United at Saltlake Stadium next year as part of their centenary year celebrations.
A four-member Manchester United delegation led by its football director Alan Dawson met East Bengal officials and West Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas on Friday.
Debabrata Sarkar, a member of the East Bengal Executive Committee, said he visited Saltlake Stadium and expressed satisfaction over the facilities there. The government said, “This was a preliminary inspection and they will give their report within ten days, on the basis of which we will take further action. After that we will work on the financial aspect.
It is learned that Manchester United’s fee to participate in the match will be Rs 24 crore and it will be around Rs 30 crore by adding other expenses.
