MC Mary Kom recently became the six times world champion after emerging victorious against Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota in the 48kg final by an unanimous 5-0 decision. The veteran boxer and mother of three is now the only female boxer with six world titles to her name.

Her journey started in 2001 where she won a silver medal. The colour of the medal was soon changed as she went onto clinch gold in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 editions.

The journey is not over as yet

There were speculations that Mary will hang her gloves after becoming the world champion which brings an end to her dream of becoming an Olympic champion. However, the veteran puglist has confirmed that her dream is still alive and she is all determined to fulfill it in Tokyo.

“I have a medal in Olympics (a bronze in 2012), but gold is something I dream for. I am very happy about my championship win, as it boosted my confidence to face life head-on,” she said.

“I am eyeing a gold at Tokyo Olympics. I will train doubly-triply hard to get a gold for my country,” she added.
