Virat Kohli has been an asset for the Indian batting order ever since his arrival to International scenes in 2008. The Delhi lad has gone from strength to strength and has evolved as a better batsman with every passing series. He started his journey for the national team in ODIs and the format has allready given him the recognition as one of the greats of the game.

The Indian skipper recently completed 39th ODI century of his career in Australia and is 10 short of equaling the record of the great Sachin Tendulkar who stands with 49 ODI centuries. Virat also became the fastest to 10,000 runs surpassing the record of his idol Sachin Tendulkar.

The 30-years-old still has 5-6 years left in International cricket and if he continues to score runs, he will be surely regarded as the best of the game. However, the debate was shut by former Australia skipper Michael Clarle after he opined that Virat Kohli is the greatest ODI batsman ever in world cricket.

“To me, Virat Kohli is the greatest batsman to have ever played one-day cricket. I have no doubts after seeing what he has achieved for India. You have to respect Virat’s passion to win games for his country. Yes, he has aggression but no one can question his commitment, how much he has achieved. He is the greatest in ODIs,” Clarke was quoted as saying in The Times of India.

The Indian captain will next lead the team in the five match ODI series against New Zealand followed by a three match T20 series.
