Mumbai Indians Pick Mitchell McClenaghan As Injured Behrendorff’s Replacement

New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan makes a return to IPL 2018, as he is all set to replace injured Aussie fast bowler Jason Behrendorff in the Mumbai Indians squad for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting April 4.

A Press Release from BCCI Confirmed the news, that Behrendorff is suffering from a back problem and, therefore, he has been ruled out of the upcoming IPL.

“The IPL Technical Committee has approved a replacement for Jason Behrendorff – left-arm fast bowler from Australia – in the Mumbai Indians squad. Behrendorff is suffering from a back problem and has been ruled out of the VIVO IPL 2018. In accordance with the Player Regulations, the Mumbai Indians were allowed to choose a replacement from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP),” the BCCI said.

As a result, McClenaghan, who played for Mumbai Indians in the last three editions of the tournament, has been roped in at his base price of Rs 1 crore.

“The Mumbai Indians subsequently picked New Zealand’s Mitchell McClenaghan at his base price of INR 1 Cr,” the BCCI said.

Not to forget, McClenaghan has been a bright prospect for Mumbai Indians from the past 3 seasons. He has taken 54 wickets in 40 matches at an economy of 8.61. His best figures stand at 4/21.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on two-time winners Chennai Super Kings in the opening game of the tournament.
