Some of the top national and international players will show their cue skills in the inaugural season of Indian Cue Masters league starting 19th August .
The event will offer a prize money of 50 lakh rupees which will be at stake for 5 teams fighting for top honours. The 16 times world champion Pankaj Advani will lead charge for Chennai Strikers’ against Welsh man Andrew Pagett’s Gujarat Kings in the opening tie at Indian Cue masters league. The other tie will feature Delhi Dons taking on Bengaluru Buddies.
“We have a great team comprising of former Asian snooker champion Alok Kumar, Brijesh Damani and Sourav Kothari ,and are confident of going all the way,” Pagett said,
The presence of three-time European Ladies Team champion Daria Sirotina from Russia makes the situation more tricky for the opposition.
“We have experience and youth on our side. We will take some beating,” Advani, a 16-time world champion, said. “The skill of veteran Dharminder Lilly and Faisal Khan, the energy of Vidya Pillai and Pandu Rangaiah makes it a perfect mix,” he added.
The seven-day league will feature five teams. Delhi Dons, Bengaluru Buddies Hyderabad Hustlers,Chennai Strikers and Gujarat Kings. Who will fight it out in an enthralling round robin cum knockout format.
Each tie will have three 6-Red snooker and two 9-Ball pool matches. Each team boasts of five players (1 icon player, 1 female player and 3 men players, with the stipulation that at least three of them are Indians).
Delhi Dons, will be lead by six-time World Snooker and seven-time European Champion Kelly Fisher.
The Welshman Darren Morgan is Bengaluru Buddies icon player. Anastasia Nechaeva from Russia and the Indian trio of Laxman Rawat, Varun Madan and Sandeep Gulati will accompany him.
The Indian cue masters league’s matches will be telecasted live on Sony ESPN from 6 pm to 8:30 pm with Sportzlive conceptualizing the format,who are confident of the league making a mark.
