Federation of International hockey (FIH) announced the pool and schedule for Odisha Mens Hockey World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 on Wednesday. India will face a stiff test against Olympic silver medalist Belgium(World rank 3) in the group C. South Africa(World Rank 15) and Canada(World Rank 11) are the other two competitors in the group. The tournament will be held in Bhubaneswar, India between 28 November to 16 December as the world’s best teams come together to battle it out at the Kalinga Stadium.
Olympic champions Argentina(World rank 2) are placed in group ‘A’ alongside New Zealand, Spain and and France.
World champions and current world number 1 Australia are placed in group ‘B’ alongside England, Ireland and China.
Group ‘D’ is said to be the group of death with three time champions Netherlands, two time champions Germany, Malaysia and Pakistan.
The tournament comprises of 16 teams which includes 15 qualifying team and host India. The tournament begins with pool stage matches going on till 9th December. Two times slots of 5 PM and 7 PM have been finalised.
Belgium with lock horns against Canada in the tournament opener, before India takes on South Africa in the second match.

The top-placed team from each pool will earn an automatic berth for the Quarter-Finals with the second and third placed teams competing in a cross-over match, which will be played on December 10 and 11, in order to reach the last-eight.
