MS Dhoni was recently dropped from the T20 squad that will play against West Indies at home and away series against Australia which has marked the end of his T20 career. Dhoni was in sublime form in this year’s IPL but his form has dipped since then. The Ranchi lad was said to be dropped as captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma agreed to prefer a youngster over him in shortest format of the game.

With the exclusion from T20 squad, there were questions asked about his future in ODI format as the rise of Rishabh Pant was pushing Dhoni to perform in order to retain his place in the team.

Robin Singh sees Dhoni over Rishabh Pant for the world cup

India’s former fielding coach Robin Singh said that Rishabh Pant has not made the opportunities count in white ball cricket. The former all-rounder opines that Dhoni is still more fancied choice over less experienced Rishabh Pant in the world cup.

Dhoni should be there (at World Cup). Those who were given opportunities have not stamped their authority,” Singh told Sport360.

Singh further said that India has a solid batting line-up and they are not just relying on skipper Virat Kohli.

“I don’t think we are depending too much on Kohli. We have enough batting to take Indian cricket forward. We won the Asia Cup in the UAE without Virat. Obviously, he is a superstar, but it is crucial that we also guide the young guys. The team’s chances are very good, they have a good chance of beating Australia,” Singh added.
