According to reports by Wah Cricket, senior Afghanistani player was approached by Indian bookie before the super four encounter between Afghanistan and Bangladesh, where the latter team won by 3 runs in a last over thriller.
According to reports, the cricketer is said to be their wicket-keeper batsman Mohammed Shahzad.
The 30-year-old from Jalalabad immediately informed the incident to his manager who consulted the Indian staff after which the matter was taken to Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).
“There was an approach made during the Asia Cup, but for their (Afghanistan’s) own T20 league,” an ICC official was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
The matter was reported through the right channels on Saturday and is being looked into by the anti-corruption unit,” the official added.
The bookies have reportedly approached Shahzad for the upcoming Afghanistan Premier League which will take place in United Arab Emirates.
