Former India captain Sourav Ganguly said that he is against the termination of coin toss in Test matches. A decision will be declared at the ICC cricket committee meeting in Mumbai next week.

“It remains to be seen whether it is implemented or not. Personally, I am not in favour of toss abolition,” Ganguly replied to reporters at the iconic Eden Gardens.

The importance of the coin toss has been questioned in the recent while, with experts saying that the proceedings was resulting in one-sided advantage to the host team. The visiting captain calls, while the home captain flips the coin.

“If the home team loses the toss, the advantage does not stay,” Ganguly said.

Earlier former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad said that there is no harm in experimenting “I don’t see any harm in trying out this experiment of abolishing the toss,” Miandad told PTI as reported by Hindustan Times.

“It might ultimately lead to matches particularly Test cricket being played on good standard pitches,” he said.
