Three cricketers under the ICC scanner for match fixing, says Sri Lankan Sports Minister

Sri Lankan Sports Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said on Wednesday that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is investigating for match-fixing allegation against three of its cricketers.

Alahapperuma did not state if the player had retired or is still playing. Sri Lankan cricket did not name the accused but carried out that no current player is been investigated.

“What the honourable minister actually mentioned was about an investigation launched by the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit against three former Sri Lanka players and not the current national players,” the board said in a statement.

However, opposite to it– reports state that Alahapperuma has hinted for current players to be under the scanner for match fixing.

Regarding allegations of drug possession on fast bowler Shehan Madushanka, Alahaperuma said, “It was sad and the country had placed high hopes on him”. Madushanka was detained last week by the Sri Lankan police on charges of possessing heroin. His contract has been suspended by Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC).
