The time is nearing for the start of the biggest state T20 league of India as TNPL 2018 tickets booking has started on the online platforms. The league was introduced in order to provide a platform for all the budding cricketers from Tamil Nadu and it has grown bigger and grander since its first season in 2016. Players like Washington Sundar have emerged from the ranks and have went on to represent India. Some other local talents have also manage to bag an IPL contract and it also gives an opportunity to players like R Ashwin to prove their mettle and get back into the team for ODIs and T20s.
According to a survey by Digitalsporty, Star Sports the official broadcaster of TNPL have manage to get more advertisement and viewers for TNPL in comparison to tennis tournaments like Wimbledon or Rolland-Garros.

The inaugural season was won by Tuti Patriots in 2016 and Chepauk Super Gillies won the title in 2017. In the 2018 season, TNPL introduced a draft for outstation players which included India “A” star Hanuma Vihari, 2012 U19 world cup winning captain Unmukt Chand and 14 other stars. But COA denied this saying that the provisions do not permit outstation players to participate in tournaments hosted by another association.
