Indian sportswomen

India is a land which workships female goddess. But, peoples are still fighting for the equality of females in the country. However, females are proving why they are the dominant force to reckon now. They are proving their mettle in every competitive field, be it academics, leadership or sports. Here is the list of top Indian sportswomen in 2017.

Sindhu continued her dominant performance in 2017. She won Syed Modi Grand Prix in January and made a strong statement of how the year will result for her. Earlier, she led Chennai Smashes to a PBL title. Sindhu avenged the defeat of Olympic finals by defeating Carolina Marin in the finals of India Open Super Series . She overcome the strong challenges and fought her way in the BWF world championships final. The final match went down to the wire and Sindhu lost it marginally 19-21, 22-20, 20-22 to Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. Sindhu avenged her world championships loss to Okuhara. She defeated her in the final of the Victor Korea Open superseries, winning 22-20, 11-21,21-18.

In December, she represented India in Dubai World Superseries finals. The Padmashree awardee won all her group stage match to book a place in semi finals against Chen Yufei of China. She eventually dominated the proceedings to win the game 21-15,21-18 and advance in the finals. The final was a nail biting one, unfortunately Sindhu lost it 21-15,12-21,19-21 to Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.

With her dominant display in 2017. Sindhu has raised the bar of Indian badminton. Lot is expected from her when she competes in Commonwealth and Asian games, next year.
