Vidarbha pacer Umesh Yadav was called as a replacement in the place of injured Shardul Thakur in the India ODI squad for first two ODIs against West Indies. Shardul who celebrates his birthday today suffered a groin strain during the second test against Windies in Hyderabad following which he was sidelined for whole of the test match. The Mumbai pace-man could only bowl 10 deliveries in the test match.

Someone’s misery comes as another one’s opportunity and Umesh proved the saying right by picking 10 wickets in the match to impress the selectors that got him another chance in ODI squad after a poor run in England ODI series.

Update on Shardul Thakur

The Mumbai cricketer is out of contention currently and it is likely that he will not get a chance in the squad for the last three ODIs. He has suffered a right adductor tendon injury which draw criticism on social media as the cricket enthusiast questioned the role of rehabilitation at the National cricket academy(NCA) in Bengaluru.
