WWE News: John Cena return date revealed

WWE Universe is desperate for the return of John Cena and it can be soon turn into reality when fans return to arenas owing to the decline of Covid-19 in United States. Fightful Select is reporting that WWE is hoping to have John Cena on WWE TV within the next ten days, with there being the potential for the former WWE Champion to appear even sooner than that.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select revealed plans for him to return on the July 23 episode of SmackDown.

“Fightful has learned that Cena is scheduled to appear on WWE programming at some point over the next 11 days, as fans return,” he wrote. “Fightful has been told that the working plan for Cena is for him to appear on the July 23 episode of WWE Smackdown, and possibly sooner than that.”

Cena may return after Money in the Bank pay per view that airs this Sunday and it makes sense. He can interfere during a promo by Roman Reigns and challenge him for Universal championship at Summerslam.

The multi times world champion last appeared on Wrestlemania 36 in April 2020 where he took on The Fiend Bray Wyatt in a firefly fun house match and ended up on the losing side. Since then, Cena has been busy with his movie projects which made him absent from WWE Television.

What’s next

WWE may be boring without fans but finally they will be back to the arenas. WWE don’t want to leave any stones un-turned when the fans return and bringing back John Cena is a great move. It will set up great momentum for WWE and TV viewership is expected to rise with the return of former world champion. Cena is probably the greatest in-ring competitor of all time but feuding him with Reigns will only help the cause of the current Universal champion who still has a big in ring career ahead of him.
