Yuzvendra Chahal and Vishwanathan Anand raise 8.8 Lakh rupees by playing chess

Sports personalities are also doing their bit to raise the fund in the fight against the deadly coronavirus which has allready affected more than 30 thousand people in India. Five-time former world champion Vishwanathan Anand and cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal have raised Rs 8.8 lakh through online chess charity competition. This amount will be given to the waste picker community to fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.

‘Chase for Charity’ was held on Saturday on Chess.com. Apart from Anand, the team of Vidit Gujrathi, Grandmaster Nihal Sarin, Women Grandmaster Tania Sachdev and Croatia’s Antonio Radic came up against the team of comedians which included Biswa Kalyan Rath, Samay Raina, Abhishek Upamanyu and Aakash Mehta.

Current India spinner and former national under-12 champion- Yuzvendra Chahal also participated in this competition. He also took part in an online blitz contest on April 5. Anand also raised Rs 4.5 lakh for the Prime Minister’s Cares Fund through an online tournament on 11 April.
