Google is celebrating the commencement of 2018 Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang city of South Korea with a special doodle. The 2018 Winter Paralympic games will be held in PyeongChang, South Korea from March 9-18 this year. The event is officially known as the XII Paralympic Winter Games and also referred to as the 2018 PyeongChang Paralympics. The games will cover 80 events in 6 sports with over 670 participating athletes. Today’s colorful Doodle represents athletes from each of the sports.

The Athletes are racing to capture a spot on the podium in six qualifying sports- alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, para ice hockey, snowboarding and wheelchair curling with 80 medals at stake.
The Winter Paralympics have been held since 1976, when the Games debuted in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.
