The injury woes continue to haunt India after in form Prithvi Shaw was ruled out of the ongoing test series following an ankle injury he picked during practice game against Cricket Australia XI. Senior players like Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin had to sit out of the 2nd test following injuries that made tough for India and they eventually lost the test as the series now hang on equal balance.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is also out of reckoning after coach Ravi Shastri informed that he is suffering from a shoulder injury. The Indian coach clarified that he was not fit enough to play that’s why the management opted for four pacers in the second test.

“When you look at Perth, we felt (Jadeja) was about 70 to 80 percent fit and we didn’t want to risk that in Perth. He still felt stiff in the shoulder when he came here and he was injected again, and it takes time to settle,” Shastri said.

Ravi Shastri further said that Ashwin will undergo a fitness test that will only determine if he will feature in the third test in Melbourne. He was ruled out of the second test following an abdominal strain.

Indian team may have to opt for Kuldeep Yadav in the third test, who doesn’t possess some great numbers in test at the foreign soil.
