Aparna Popat
She is a former senior National Champion and holds a record of nine national titles between 1997 and 2006. Thereby equaling Prakash Padukone’s record of winning nine consecutive national singles titles. She has 4 medals in 3 Commonwealth Games appearances. Popat has waved Indian tricolor high at the 1996 Silkeborg World Junior Championships, where she won a silver. She retired from the game in 2006 after suffering a wrist injury that remained un-diagnosed. Aparna remained undefeated at the National championships.
