It was a momentous occasion for Deepak Kumar who claimed silver in men’s 10m air rifle event at Asian Games 2018 on Monday. Kumar was short of some International medals in the recent times and he gave himself a big boost by winning the second spot.

Deepak shot 247.7 to finish second on the podium. China’s Haoran Yang won the top honours with a games record total of 249.1 at the JSC shooting range.

Chinese Taipei’s Shaochuan Lu claimed a bronze medal with total of 226.8.

This is India’s third medal at the ongoing Games and second in shooting.

Other Indian in contention was Ravi Kumar, who won bronze in mixed 10m air rifle event yesterday. However, the veteran shooter failed to bag a medal today and finished at 5th spot with a total of 205.2.

Earlier, Apurvi Chandela was also in the women’s 10m air rifle final but a disappointing last shot put her to 5th spot from 3rd and she was ousted from the competition with a total of 186.
