Former test opener wants this cricketer to captain India in 2023 World Cup

Ever since India’s shocking loss to New Zealand in world cup semi-finals by 18 runs, two questions have been doing round- One is the retirement of MS Dhoni and the future of Virat Kohli after world cup debacle. India topped the table with 16 points in 9 games that includes a washed off game against New Zealand and a loss against England.

The men in blue were the heavyweights to lift the crown but they failed to perform when it mattered the most and fans are blaming skipper Virat Kohli for the loss.

Meanwhile, former India test opener and Vidarbha cricketer- Wasim Jaffer feels its time that the selectors should hand over the white ball captaincy to vice captain Rohit Sharma, who has led Mumbai Indians to four IPL trophies.

“Is it time to hand over white ball captaincy to Rohit Sharma? I would like him to lead India in the 2023 World Cup,” Jaffer tweeted.

Virat Kohli’s captaincy is under the scanner after he send MS Dhoni to bat at number seven spot. Struggling at 92/6 in 30.3 overs, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni put up a show and added 116 runs for the seventh wicket to bring back India into the game.

With required run rate soaring up to 12 in the 48th over, Ravindra Jadeja perished after playing an innings of 77 off just 59 balls. MS Dhoni could not finish the game and was run out from a rocket throw by Martin Guptill at short fine leg in 49th over bowled by Lockie Ferguson. India eventually fell short by 18 runs to bow out of the world cup.
