India suffered a huge blow ahead of the second test match after Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw have been ruled out following injury concerns. With the trio failing to make the cut, team management included Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav in the 13 member squad.

Shaw injured his left ankle while fielding in the practise game against Cricket Australia XI while R. Ashwin and Rohit Sharma have not recovered from the injuries they sustained during the first test match.

“Prithvi Shaw is recovering well from his left ankle injury but still undergoing treatment. R Ashwin has a left-sided abdominal strain. He is receiving treatment at the moment. Rohit Sharma jarred his lower back while fielding in the 1st Test at Adelaide. He is undergoing treatment. He too is ruled out of the second Test,” a BCCI statement read.

“The team management is closely monitoring these players anda call on their availability for the third Test will be taken at an appropriate time,” the statement added.

The greentop at Perth will be a heaven for the pacers and Indian team management will hope that its pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will exploit the conditions in order to give a knockout punch to the hosts.
