Indian hockey legend surpass Virat Kohli's best score in yo-yo test

Yo-Yo test have raised the fitness bar of the Indian cricket team and captain Virat Kohli has set the benchmarks for the other cricketers to follow. However, there is certain someone that has went ahead of Virat Kohli in terms of attaining a higher score in yo-yo test.

Former India hockey captain Sardar Singh was ousted from the squad for Commonwealth games due to his slow paced game that didn’t helped the cause of India’s midfield and he was sidelined by Sjoerd Marjine who was the national coach at that time.

The veteran midfielder who represents Jaypee Punjab Warriors in Hockey India League then started working hard on his fitness. In the process he achieved a score of 21.4 in yo-yo test and surpassed the 16.1 mark which is set for the selection in the Indian cricket team.

Virat Kohli achieved a score of 19 in the yo-yo test which is 2.4 points less than that of Sardar.

35-year-old Sardar Singh made his senior debut against Pakistan in 2006, two years later in 2008 he became the youngest captain of Indian hockey team. He captained the national team for 8 years before goalkeeper PR Sreejesh took over from 2016 Rio Olympics.
