The two veterans returned back to their country and broke down infront of the media.

The South African team’s record in the knockout stages of the multi team tournament isn’t hidden from anyone. Pressure gets the better of them in the crucial matches and that’s why they are called “chokers”.

In the 2015 world cup semi-finals against New Zealand, South Africa posted a mammoth total of 281 runs but Brendon McCullum led side was given a target of 298 as per the Duckworth Lewis method as rain spoiled the play.

After getting a solid start, the Kiwi middle order was exposed and it all came down to the death overs. South Africa was a clear favourite at one stage but some power hitting by Grant Elliott changed the complexion of the game after he hit a six of the penultimate ball of the innings bowled by Dale Steyn.

It was a heartbreak for South Africa as they lost the game from the cusp of victory and the players were were in tears on the field.
