BCCI announces India squad for T20 series against Australia and West Indies, two senior players dropped

In a shocking move, selectors dropped former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the India T20 squad for West Indies and Australia series. This may mean that 2016 T20 world cup was his last appearance for India in a T20 marquee event and the selectors will only trust him in the ODI squad.

The selectors said that Dhoni is “rested” and they want to give chance to another keeper to fulfill the void of second keeper in the team.

MSK Prasad led selection committee called a late evening meeting where they also rested Virat Kohli for West indies T20 series ahead of the Australia tour and named Rohit Sharma as the skipper of the team. Virat will return to lead India in the T20 series in Australia.

Dinesh Karthik who impressed in the deodhar trophy was recalled to the T20 team for both the series and he will be eyeing to cement his place atleast in the shortest format of the game.

All-rounder Krunal Pandya was awarded for his good run in domestic cricket and was named in the squads for both the series against Australia and West Indies. Tamil Nadu all-rounder Washington Sundar who has not picked up the form after injury was also included in the squad.
