BCCI to send five players to play for Asia XI against World XI

Bangladesh cricket board is set to host two T20 matches, which will be played between Asia XI and World XI on March 18 and 21, 2020. This is an initiative by Bangladesh cricket board to celebrate the birth centenary of the country’s founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. BCB President Nazmul Hossain had promised to bring the best cricketers from around the world and most importantly, the matches have been granted the official status by ICC.

There were speculations that Indian and Pakistani cricketers will play in the same team but it is learned that no Pakistani cricketer was invited to join the Asia XI team which will comprise players from Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan or even Afghanistani players.

BCB had earlier asked BCCI to grant permission to star players like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Rohit Sharma to participate in the matches but now BCCI has confirmed that they will be sending five players. However, the board is yet to confirm the name of the players, they will be sending.

“Our board has decided to send five players. It has been left to the BCCI president (Sourav Ganguly) to decide which five players would go to Bangladesh,” BCCI joint secretary Jayesh George was quoted as saying by bdcrictime.com.
