Davinder Singh Kang dissapoints in Javelin Finals

   Davinder Singh Kang finished 12th in the Javelin Finals.

Davinder Singh Kang ended his world championships dream with a disappointing 12th place finish.He featured in the Javelin throw finals on the penultimate day of the competition.

Kang became the first Indian to qualify in the final of any event this World Athletics championships. He came up with the best attempt of 80.02m in the final attempt to end at 12th position.There were 13 competing finalists . Remember Kang came up with a better score of 84.22m in the qualification round in front of a packed stadium in London,which he could not repeat in the finals.

His first attempt saw a throw of 75.40m. He fouled in his second attempt before finishing with a score of 80.02m in his 3rd and final attempt . As a result he was eliminated and the top 8 continued with the final event.

The gold medal was clinched by Johannes Vetter of Germany with a throw of 89.89m. Silver medal went to Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic with a throw of 89.73m. Bronze medal went to Czech Republic’s Petr Frydrych with a throw of 88.32m.

” The right shoulder injury was a bit too much for me to bear today in the finals and it affected my performance . I don’t want to give any excuse but the results could have been different if the injury didn’t persisted. I am dissapointed that i have led down my nation ,” Davinder Singh Kang post the event.

Remember Kang finished with bronze medal at recently concluded Asian Athletics championship.The event was held in Bhubaneswar(India) , where Neeraj Chopra finished with a Gold medal. Chopra also appeared alongside Kang in the World Athletics championship event, however he could not manage to qualify for the final event.
