India name their probable players to feature in the 1st ODI against West Indies, one player to make his ODI debut

Ahead of the first ODI between India and West Indies, BCCI has announced the probable squad of the men in blue as Rishabh Pant is all set to make his ODI debut after some impressive performance in the test format.

India have started a new habit of announcing their probable XI since the start of the test series against West Indies. Its worth mentioning that England were the first team to bring this trend into action.

Certain to feature in the playing XI

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will open the innings for India followed by a returning Virat Kohli at number three.

Ambati Rayudu, who impressed in the Asia Cup 2018 will take the number four slot followed by Rishabh Pant at number five. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will keep the wickets and bat at number six.

Uncertain to feature in playing XI

The remaining five places in the team will depend on the combination that the team management is looking for.

If the team goes with three spinners and two pacers- Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will feature in the side alongside Khaleel Ahmed, Mohammed Shami or Umesh Yadav.

If the team goes with three pacers and two spinners- Mohammed Shami, Khaleel Ahmed, Umesh Yadav will feature in the side alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.


Probables: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Khaleel Ahmed.

Expected playing XI: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami and Khaleel Ahmed.
