In what promises to be a happenings news for fans in Tamil Nadu, former India captain MS Dhoni yesterday visited Tirunelveli where a TNPL game between Madurai Panthers and Kovai Kings was played. Dhoni receives lot of love from the state as he leads Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and Tamil Nadu people have a special connection with their captain.

What he said

Starting with a “Vanakkam” he said “What brings me here is the TNPL (Tamil Nadu Premier League), of course, to start off. Every time I play IPL, I learn Tamil and once the tournament ends I have to start from scratch again. I will make sure that by next edition of IPL, I’ll learn a bit of Tamil.

Talking about Tirunelveli

Dhoni said the city is a special place for him as India cements first plant was set up here.

“Also this is a special place, this is where India Cements started.

“I have been with them (India Cements) for a long time so, this gives me an opportunity to come and see the first Plant over here,” he said.
