England thumped India in the third ODI at Leeds to take the ODI series 2-1. The focus shifted to England’s celebration with bottle of wines but eyes were on MS Dhoni who took the match ball from the umpires that fueled up the question of his retirement. This act by the former captain made the fans believe that its time he will bid adieu to the game

Earlier, England comfortably completed a 8 wicket win over the depleted India in the typical English conditions at Leeds. This was India’s first ever ODI series lose in 2 years and the first loss in Virat Kohli’s reign as India’s ODI skipper. Indian bowling looked more than ordinary but the man on the sight was MS Dhoni and his act.

In a viral video on twitter, Dhoni is seen asking the match officials for the match ball which raised eyebrows on his retirement.

Dhoni, 37, retired from test cricket in 2014, following India’s poor run in test series in Australia.

Dhoni’s performance was debatable after he played two slow innings in the last two ODIs. In the 2nd ODI at Lords, Dhoni was booed by the fans for playing a slow innings when the required run rate was soaring up with every passing over. In the 3rd ODI, India kept loosing wickets and Dhoni handled his wicket again and scored 42 runs of 66 balls at a strike rate of 63.64 but got out in 46th over that didn’t let happen a late flourish for India.

My Take:

Now the question which arises is. Can Dhoni play his natural game when he is loosing partners from other end? Is he the right person to blame?

If he retires from International cricket due to criticism over his slow innings, it will be the most unfortunate happening for a cricket fan and now you know why, if you have answered the above question.
