Observing AB De Villiers has improved me as a batsman: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is a modern great when it comes to batting. He is followed and observed by millions that gives them a chance to come any close to the talents of the Indian captain which has let him achieve so much at a young age of 29. However, Virat had revealed that he has actually observed AB De Villiers that has improved him as a batsman.

In an exclusive chat with NDTV, Kohli said, “I actually learnt something from him in the recent Test series that we played. I made that adjustment to my game, which I haven’t told him about yet.

“I used to tap my bat right at the end before playing a ball which worked for me in the shorter format where the ball was not moving that much. But then I saw him playing Bumrah and ball beating him but the ball won’t hit him because he was so correct with what he was doing. And then I wondered as to why I was edging the ball. I then went back and analyzed and saw how still his head was. I then stopped tapping the bat and it made my head more still and I started scoring runs in the Test after that,” Kohli added.

Kohli became the first Indian captain to win a bilateral series in South Africa. After facing a setback in the test series 2-1, Kohli and co. dominated the proceedings in the ODI series and won it 5-1. The winning momentum didn’t stopped from there as the Indian team crushed a low-lying South Africa in T20 International series 2-1.

Virat Kohli is currently leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
