India becomes 4th country to have an all Indian affair at super series finals(Mens Single Category) | Praneeth vs Srikanth

Indian women have been all guns blazing as they have dominated the proceedings in badminton. But the men players seems to follow their footsteps. Sai Praneeth the world number 30 defeated Korean Lee Dong. The world number 18 lost in straight sets 21- 6, 21- 8 to make his maiden super series finals. Following him was Kidambi Srikanth who won in convincing fashion. He defeated Anthony Ginting the world number 26 from Indonesia and former Youth Olympics bronze medalist (2014) 21-13 , 21-14. It will be Praneeth vs Srikanth in the finals.

Praneeth was the first to make it to the summit clash after he executed his plans brilliantly to completely outplay his opponent in a 38-minute match.

Srikanth then showed why he is considered one of the best Indian shuttlers right now, fighting back from 4-9 down in the opening game to never look back.

Interestingly, Praneeth has a 4-1 head-to-head record against his more illustrious compatriot, who had clinched the 2014 China Super Series Premier. He also won 2015 India Super Series and also reached the quarterfinals of Rio Olympics.

Earlier in the Singapore open, India faced a set back when Sindhu got defeated in Quarter finals by her arch Rival from Spain, Carolina Marin. In mixed doubles pair of Ashwini with Sumeeth lost in quarter finals.

With Srikanth playing his super series final after 2 years and a maiden Super series final for Sai Praneeth. Indian men are certain of the glory, becoming only the 4th country after China , Denmark and Indonesia to have its two men in the Super series final. It would be interesting to see both the Indian men competing for the title on Sunday.
