West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo on Wednesday retired from International cricket in order to extend his professional playing career in various T20 leagues of the world. The 35-year-old Trinidadian cricketer is currently out of national reckoning and selectors wanted him to prove himself yet again by performing in domestic cricket but he failed to do so.

He made his International ODI debut against England on 18 April 2004 and last featured in an ODI against India on 17 October 2014.

The CSK cricketer made his test debut against England on 22 July 2004 and last featured in the whites way back in 2010 against Sri Lanka.

He has featured in 40 Tests, 164 ODIs and 66 T20Is for the country.

Bravo will continue to play in various T20 league of the world

“Today I want to confirm to the cricket world that I have officially retired from international cricket in all formats of the game…I will continue my professional career as a cricketer and entertainer living as a true champion,” Bravo said in a statement.

“After 14 years when I made my debut for the West Indies, I still remember that moment I received the maroon cap before walking onto the Lords Cricket Ground against England in July 2004. The enthusiasm and passion I felt then, I have kept with me throughout my career,” he added.

Bravo said he wants the youngsters to step up and take the nation forward.

A specialist all-rounder and a fierce striker of the cricket ball, Bravo had scored 2,200 runs and picked 86 wickets across 40 test matches.

In 164 ODIs, he scored 2,968 and picked 199 wickets.

He proved to be a pivotal prospect in guiding West Indies to World T20 title in 2016 in India, especially as a death overs specialist bowler.
