Virat Kohli pens an emotional post after completing 11 years in International cricket

Indian run-machine Virat Kohli has completed 11 years in international cricket on Sunday. The 19-year-old Virat Kohli, made his debut on 18 August 2008, is today holding the reins of the Indian cricket team. Captain Kohli, who has become the biggest player of white ball cricket, is also the maestro of Test cricket with six double centuries and the first captain to achieve the feat. On Sunday, amidst the best wishes from around the world, Virat described his completion of 11 years in international cricket as a blessing to God, calling it a dream come true.

“From starting as a teenager on the same day in 2008 to reflecting on the journey 11 years after, I couldn’t have dreamt of the blessings God has showered me with. May you all get the strength and power to follow your dreams and always follow the right path #forevergrateful,” Kohli tweeted.

Kohli had just played 8 list A games and his inclusion for the Sri lanka tour in 2008 was a surprise call up. With the injury of Sachin and Sehwag, skipper MS Dhoni asked Virat if he would like to open the batting for India and the younster agreed to play which marked the start of his ODI career. He just made 12 runs but gave a good idea about his great technique and solid temperament.

He has so far scored 6613 runs in 77 Tests, including 25 centuries. He has scored 11520 runs in 239 ODIs with the help of 43 centuries. The 30-year-old has a total of 68 centuries in international cricket to his name and is the first batsman in the world to score more than 20,000 runs in a decade, surpassing the record of Javed Miandad.
