After a famous win in the Adelaide test, Indian team led by Virat Kohli was confident of giving a knockout punch to Australia on the green top of Western Australia cricket ground in Perth, however Australian batters had some other plans as they ended the day on a high. Openers Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch completed their half centuries to give a positive start to Australia.

The hosts lost plot in the afternoon session after losing four wickets in quick succession which brought the focus to Shaun Marsh and Travis Head. The two southpaw’s added 84 runs for 5th wicket to bring Australia to a dominant position. Tim Paine and Pat Cummins will resume the batting on day 2 at 277/6.

VVS Laxman feels India’s batting will be crucial for the context of 2nd test

Former India batsman VVS Laxman opines that the Perth wicket is challenging wicket to bat with the green top favouring the quicks. He felt the hosts have done an excellent job to finish the day at 277/6 and also noted that India’s batting will set the tone for this test match.

“Looks a challenging wicket to bat , Australia have done well to get to 277/6, India will be hoping to bowl Australia out quickly tomorrow and then really bat well in the first innings. India’s batting in the first innings will be very crucial in the context of this Test #AusvInd,” Laxman tweeted.

If Australia can go past the 350+ run mark, then it will make things tough for India, considering they have to bat in the fourth innings with a lower order who doesn’t contribute in huge numbers.
