India registered a resounding 125 run victory over West Indies to almost book their berth for the last four of the ongoing world cup. India won the toss and chose to bat first in a batting friendly conditions of Manchester on Thursday. Indian opening pair of KL Rahul(48 off 64 balls) and Rohit Sharma(18 off 23 balls) failed to impress as the latter batsman was dismissed in a controversial DRS decision. Virat Kohli formed partnerships with KL Rahul and Vijay Shankar(14 off 19 balls) but it was the Indian middle order which was again exposed by the Windies bowlers.

At 180-4, India lost Virat Kohli(72 off 82 balls) who again fall short of completing his first century in the world cup. Hardik Pandya(46 off 38 balls) and MS Dhoni(56 off 61 balls) put up a 70 run stand to take India to 268/7 at the end of 50 overs. Kemar Roach picked three wickets for West Indies.

Chasing a target of 269 runs, West Indies received early blows courtesy Mohammed Shami. They lost half their side under 100 runs which meant that the Jason Holder led side failed to put up a fight and got bundled out on 143 runs in 34.2 overs. Mohammed Shami picked four wickets for India.

Virat Kohli was adjudged the man of the match for his impressive innings of 72 off 82 balls.

Kohli mocks Cottrell’s salute celebration

Virat Kohli loves to do all the funny stuff on the field and he was seen imitating the expression of Sarfaraz Ahmed in India’s clash against Pakistan on 16th June. As India faced West Indies, Kohli mocked Sheldon Cottrell by celebrating in his trademark salute style.

Mohammed Shami was the star for India with the ball as the Bengal pacer picked four wickets but he again imitated the style of Cottrell to gather some eyeballs. Cottrell was the ninth West Indies batsman to be dismissed after he was trapped infront of the stumps by Yuzvendra Chahal. Though Shami didn’t pick the wicket of the Windies pacer but he celebrated in his trademark salute style.
